The excellent Online News Association conference gave me a few hours over two evenings to explore the city of Atlanta, a town I hadn’t visited in over two decades. After taking MARTA from the airport to the hotel, I sought out Slice pizza for supper, where decent grub was overshadowed by an unpleasant, smoky bar atmosphere.
Following a well-curated charcuterie plate at Empire State South, I took a taxi to Philips Arena to watch Kyle Korver and the Atlanta Hawks take on the eventual-champion San Antonio Spurs in an exhibition game. While the atmosphere presumably paled in comparison to a regular season NBA game, I checked an arena off my list and picked up a snazzy t-shirt for Noah.
