Amanda and I did a lot of driving on Friday, September 5, 2008, to see true country music legend Hal Ketchum perform at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Galesburg, Illinois. We made it from Ankeny to Ottumwa to Galesburg by 5:00 p.m. in time for an early dinner at the sadly unspectacular Cellar Pizzeria and Pub.

We then moseyed downtown to the Orpheum Theatre, where we saw Hal Ketchum, Kenny Grimes, and crew perform 19 songs, including several from the forthcoming Father Time album, scheduled for release the following week.

Though the music itself was unforgettable, memories were sealed by a photo with Hal Ketchum, commemorating the fourth time I had seen him perform live in concert.

After dropping off Mom and Dad in Ottumwa, Amanda and I had more driving ahead of us, getting back to Ankeny just before 2 a.m. We were greeted by our South Dakota friends Josh, Natalie, and Ella who had a long drive themselves to spend the weekend with us in Iowa’s capital city.
