As expected with any international trip spanning multiple time zones, the last day of travel was long and at times arduous. We all survived the crammed quarters on a jam-packed airplane for the 9 hour flight from Paris to Chicago, hurried through a ridiculous-rushed McDonald’s airport dinner, then boarded the short flight to Des Moines for the final leg of our journey.
Over the course of two weeks, we created a lot of memories exploring Scotland, London, and Paris. Our daily posts are listed below:
- Day 0 – O’Hare Airport
- Day 1 – Castle, Church, and Cruachan
- Day 2, Part 1 – Drive to Skye
- Day 2, Part 2 – Skye Arrival
- Day 3, Part 1 – Trotternish Peninsula
- Day 3, Part 2 – The Three Chimneys
- Day 4, Part 1 – Art Cafe, Dunvegan Castle
- Day 4, Part 2 – Coral Beach
- Day 5 – Two Castles, a Children’s Farm, and a Kilt
- Day 6 – Inverness and Edinburgh
- Day 7 – Edinburgh
- Day 8 – Train to London, Shake Shack, London Eye
- Day 9 – London
- Day 10 – London
- Day 11 – Last Day in London
- Day 12 – Paris
We completed 66 of 71 activities outlined on our itinerary, with misses on only two historic cairns in Scotland, due to lack of time, plus one Skye restaurant which wasn’t open for lunch and two London restaurants replaced with closer options. While we didn’t tour either Shakespeare’s Globe or the Arc de Triomphe, we did visit both via walks in London and Paris, respectively.
