It’s hard to put into words how excited Eilidh was to get her ears pierced. It was referenced nearly every day of the trip and was easily the thing she was most looking forward to in New York City. We took a lot of photos (and a video) to document the experience before moving on with our day by visiting the 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

Amanda had provided the kids with a high-level overview of 9/11 to prep them for our walk through the well-designed museum facility. Noah was able to garner the most from the visit but the girls did well as we worked our way through the many exhibits. Afterward, we looked at the memorial pools and randomly saw Rudy Guliani.
Amanda and I really enjoyed our Chinatown Food Tour when we visited New York by ourselves in August 2019. We reached out to the tour guide via Airbnb and were able to book the same experience for our entire family for this trip. The first two meals were absolutely as good as we remembered, but the duck pancake didn’t quite live up to expectations.

We waited what seemed like forever for a car back to Long Island City, where Noah and I dropped off the girls to relax for the evening. We took the subway into Manhattan, walking several miles and visiting the LEGO Store, Strand Bookstore, Baked by Melissa, the Harry Potter Store, and more. It was a fun time and a lovely evening to walk around the city.
Noah tried butter beer at the Harry Potter store… it grew on him, but it wasn’t his favorite soda ever.
