Noah and I started the morning with a quick trip to Olde World Bagel, which was pretty tasty. After bagels in the hotel, we were ready to explore the Colorado Springs area starting with a 40-minute stop to peruse Garden of the Gods.

We drove to nearby Manitou Springs for lunch at Adam’s Mountain Cafe. The formal restaurant featured inspired fare focused around natural ingredients. I loved my watermelon salad with candied pecans, goat cheese, and balsamic vinegar. Amanda mostly liked her Moroccan fish tacos, which consisted of soft blue taco shells with “mild white fish” topped with cumin, garlic, lemon, cilantro, and slaw. Noah didn’t eat a lot of his peanut butter sandwich.
After some quick shopping, we drove to the Colorado North Pole. Recommended by our seat neighbors at the Rockies game, this park was absolutely perfect for Noah. Lines were short, prices were reasonable, and rides were kid-friendly. Noah enjoyed the more adventurous rides, like the Tilt-A-Whirl, Paratrooper, and Space Shuttle. Amanda, Noah, and I all rode the “highest Ferris wheel in the world” (due to elevation.)
Our supper was at the cheap Captain D’s Seafood, near the hotel in Colorado Springs. Not as good as Long John Silver’s, but the service was impeccable.
