Day 6 of our “holiday” found us in Portrush, Northern Ireland, just a short drive from the Antrim Coast.  We started the day with a tour of the world’s oldest (since 1608) whiskey distillery, Bushmills.  No pictures for you here, as supposedly camera mechanisms could ignite the vapor fumes.

Next we explored yet another ruined shell of a castle – this one uninhabited since the kitchen fell into the sea (taking half of the servants with it) in the mid-1600s.

Brian mailed a postcard before we stopped at the grocery store.

After a quick stop at a grocery store for food, we picnicked on the White Rock Beach.  I was very impressed with the pretty white rocks, but was tormented by Brian for taking too long searching for the perfect round rocks to take back to the states.

Me and my pretty rocks.

Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge was next on the list.  We joined a hodgepodge group of individuals to get 2 pounds off our admission and then made the long trek to the bridge, over the bridge, and then roamed the small island we found ourselves on.

Our final destination of the day was Giant’s Causeway a four-mile stretch of coast in which hexagonal pillars of cooled lava create unique pathways down to the sea.

Couldn’t you find any taller and scarier cliffs or formations? I wouldn’t have crossed the bridge if you would have paid me. Loved the mailbox…..bet the postcard price was higher than 28 cents.

Actually it’s 98 cents for either a postcard or letter under one ounce (which is a typical letter). I looked it up.
