After checking out of our pleasant guest house in Portrush, we traveled to Northern Ireland’s capital city of Belfast. We grabbed lunch at a coffee shop on the Queen’s University, then parked in the city centre for a Taxi Tour.

The taxi was driven by Ken Harper, who specializes in tours of the Belfast area. The tour included a look at the Protestant/Unionist and Catholic/Nationalist areas of the city, along with the peace wall that divides them. We drove by a number of murals painted by each group, saw a few Northern Ireland police stations (each surrounded by high fencing), and got out of the taxi on occasion for photos and further explanations.
Our tour concluded with a look at the shipyard where the Titanic was designed and constructed. Construction was completed in May 1911, and was docked and furnished in Belfast for eleven months before being moved to England.

We safely returned our rental car to the Dublin Airport and checked into our hotel. Although the service was a wee bit slow, our late dinner at Roly’s Restaurant was the tastiest so far.
The service was a wee bit slow….do I detect some Irish lingo there? Can’t wait to hear about the driving in Europe.
